The Mystery of God in Scripture
The word mystery appears roughly 28 times in the New Testament, yet it carries a weight far beyond its frequency. In the original Greek, the word is mystērion (μυστήριον), and it does not mean what most English speakers assume. It does not refer to an unsolvable puzzle or a detective story. In Scripture, a mystery is something that was once hidden in the counsel of God and has now been revealed to His people.
This site is dedicated entirely to that single word and the theology built upon it. Every page examines a specific passage, theme, or question related to mystērion in the Bible.
